Full Message :

Colorado College strives to ensure the ethical and humane care of the animals involved in our teaching and
research activities. In order to do this, we have established a committee, in line with federal guidelines, that
oversees the College's animal care and use program. This committee is called the IACUC (pronounced “eye-
a-cook”), short for the Institutional Animal Care & Use Committee.

We are looking for an individual without a background in science who cares about how the College cares for
the animals involved in our research and teaching. This individual would serve in an “alternate” position as
our “non-scientist,” which is a federally-mandated and vitally important position. Having an alternate in this
position ensures the stability of the IACUC and the College's research and teaching activities.

The alternate committee member would be able to attend as many or as few meetings as his or her schedule
allows. An online training course is required, but could be completed on his or her own time (within 6
months). A commitment of 3 years would be greatly appreciated.

Interested? Please contact Tess Powers or Erica Hardcastle.
