Full Message :
Matthew Desmond's groundbreaking New York Times bestseller "Evicted: Poverty and Profit in the American City" follows tenants and landlords swept up in the process of eviction. Drawing on urban reportage and original statistical data gathered for the book, his research shows that eviction is a cause, not just a condition, of poverty and that the face of America's eviction epidemic belongs to mothers and children. Desmond is a Harvard sociologist and recipient of the MacArthur Foundation Genius grant. Sponsored by the Daniel Patrick O’Connor Memorial Lecture and the Department of Sociology.
