Dear all,
The recently-awarded $509,000 two-year grant provides several opportunities for faculty. Applications for the use of these funds are due February 6, 2012 (electronic form to [log in to unmask] or 4 hard copies to the Dean’s Office). A group of faculty members and the dean will review the proposals.
Intensive language study: tuition, travel, and expenses. For the summer and/or sabbatical leaves. Any level.
Course development: new courses or revision of courses in the languages or for foreign language across the curriculum (FLAC) courses. FLAC courses incorporates language into a course taught primarily in English. Stipend normally for work in the summer.
On-site course development: provides a stipend and funds for travel and per diem to develop or revise a course which will be part of a language and culture program (such as the Mediterranean Semester) or which has a language component. Areas include the Mediterranean, Asia, and Latin America.
In year one, there are 5 on-campus course development grants; 5 grants for on-site course development in the Mediterranean; 3 for Asia or Latin America-based courses; and up to $40,000 to support intensive language study.
See the attachments to download the application forms.
Susan
