Dear all,

CC faculty have been reasonably successful in obtaining these grants in
the past. The internal deadline is November 1st.

The Associated Colleges of the Midwest's Faculty Career Enhancement
Project (FaCE) has funds to support faculty research in the following two
categories: Enhancing Scholarship by Exploring New Avenues and Enhancing
Scholarship by Enriching Sabbatical Experiences and Planning. This will be
the final round for grants of up to $3,000 for projects to be completed
during 2007-2008.

· Enhancing Scholarship by Exploring New Avenues is designed for
faculty who are interested in exploring a new area of research. While
preference will be given to mid-career faculty, there may be faculty
members at an earlier stage who have discovered a new area to explore
through their teaching and scholarship.

· Enhancing Scholarship by Enriching Sabbatical Experiences and
Planning provides funds to supplement college sabbatical grants to either
assist in developing a stronger sabbatical proposal or allowing better
preparation to effectively complete the sabbatical scholarship.

Funds in either of these categories could be used to support visits to
specialists, research trips to domestic or international sites, extended
stays at laboratories or library collections, data collection, and classes
and/or specialized training in a new skill or area of interest. Proposals
to attend professional meetings or for the purchase of materials would not
be considered unless they demonstrate very clear, specific scholarly
purposes and needs that cannot be met through other funding sources.

Key criteria used in evaluating the proposals will be: 1) specific
outcomes; 2) feasibility of completion; 3) emphasis on research, rather
than curricular goals.

Applicants should write a 2-4 page proposal describing the activities to
be funded and the relationship of those activities to larger research
goals. Address how these funds either will help chart out a new scholarly
direction or prepare and/or accomplish sabbatical research goals. All
proposals must contain a budget and an abbreviated vita (four pages or
less). The dean of the faculty will submit a maximum of three CC proposals
to the competition. The proposal reviewers (ACM deans) will be evaluating
how the specific activities proposed for funding will enable the faculty
member to pursue a larger research project or plan that might not be
possible otherwise.

Deadline: Proposals must be submitted to the Dean's Office by November 1,
2007.
