Dear colleagues,
Cellar Consulting (Alan Manley's enterprise) chose the wines again this
block, and Alan describes them below.
1) Oxford Landing, Merlot:
From the Yalumba family, Australia's oldest, family run winery, comes this
inexpensive line of wines - Oxford Landing. Oxford Landing isn't some
invented name on a wine label. It's a real place, a real vineyard,
alongside
the River Murray in South Australia. The wines produced there are vibrant
and characteristically Australian - meaning they are generous and fruity.
This wine, the Merlot, has loads of blackberry and black cherry fruit and
an
herbaceous character. Medium-bodied, soft tannins and medium acids.
Jackson Estate, Sauvignon Blanc:
Typical bright, fresh New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. Aromas and flavors of
freshly cut grass, guava, ruby red grapefruit and a hint of melon. Very
sharp acidity makes it a good aperitif wine.
Mitolo ³Jester² Shiraz:
I love the Mitolo wines and the ³Jester² is no exception. Typical
Australian
big style with super-ripe fruit and an abundant dose of vanilla on the
palate. Creamy flavors of blueberry, blackberry and some bright raspberry
accompany spice, vanilla and chocolate. Medium tannin and acids.
