Dear all,

You have received snail mail descriptions of these awards with details
about what they cover and about the application procedures. You can also
check the Dean's homepage for the full descriptions. This is just a
reminder about the options, deadlines, and contact people. I should
clarify that the Dean's Summer Research Grants are new this year.

I. Summer research stipends:

Dean's Summer Research Grants: a three year program supported by a
generous foundation grant. Up to three awards of $4000 to support
scholarly travel, salary for student research assistants engaged in work
related to the proposed project, equipment, books, or stipend. All
regular faculty members (tenure track, adjunct, and lecturer) are eligible
to apply. Applications due to the R & D Board c/o Office of the Dean of
the College by March 24, 2008 or electronically to Karen Ferguson
([log in to unmask]) in the Dean's Office.

Mrachek awards: two awards of $4000 to underwrite scholarly travel, salary
for student research assistants engaged in a collaborative project with
the Mrachek Fellow, equipment, books, or other similar expenses related
directly to the research project, or as stipend. Restricted to
non-tenured, tenure-track faculty members in their first or second year at
the college. Applications due to the R & D Board c/o Office of the Dean
of the College by March 24, 2008 or electronically to Karen Ferguson
([log in to unmask]) in the Dean's Office.

Benezet awards: up to six $4000 grants to support scholarly travel,
equipment, books, or other similar expenses related directly to the
proposed project. These must either launch a new work or lead to the
completion of a work in progress. Applicants must be full-time or adjunct
members of the faculty. Applications should be submitted to the R & D
Board c/o the Dean's Office no later than April 14, 2008. Applications
may also be submitted electronically to Karen Ferguson
([log in to unmask]).

Student-Faculty Collaborative Research grants ($30,000): stipend for
students engaging in research with a faculty member during the summer and
$500 into the faculty's research account for supplies. The program
supports faculty in their research activities and gives students a
first-hand research experience. Faculty and department chairs submit
proposals to Associate Dean Victor Nelson-Cisneros by the first week of
block seven.

II. Grants for Course Development and Revision:

Norman B. Smith Summer Stipends: a new $4000 award available for one
faculty member in the first and second years at the college to help with
course development or revision. Proposals due to the General Education
Oversight Committee c/o the Dean's Office by March 24, 2008 or

Dean's Office.

Curriculum Development Grants:

For construction of a new course ($4,000) or revision to an existing
