Dear all,
The Mellon Foundation grant for languages supports a number of initiatives
of broad interest to faculty. These include:
1) Development of courses taught in the Mediterranean ($4000 stipend and
up to $3000 for expenses) [See MellonMedCourseDevAPP]
2) Support for new pedagogies in language courses and for introducing
language into other courses (FLAC-foreign language across the curriculum).
($4000 stipend) [See Mellon FLACCourseap]
3) Intensive language. Tuition grants ($2000) for local courses and
tuition ($2000) and, when applicable board and room ($5000) for off
campus courses. [SeeMellonIntensiveFunds]
Course development funds support work in the summer (the equivalent of
four weeks), but faculty on sabbatical leave could also apply. Intensive
language study could also occur during the summer or during sabbatical.
Some of you may want to apply for more than one of these grants. The
grant is for two years (2009-10 and 2010-11). There is no deadline for
any of these applications. They will be considered as they arrive.
See attachments for details.
Susan
