Hello all,

The link below is to an NPR story reporting information supporting the theory that the more you sit or are sedentary, the greater chance you have of losing the ability to do activities of daily living later in life - even when "exercise" is accounted for. Meaning that if you sit at work, exercise for 30 minutes, then go home and sit some more, you still have a greater chance of losing the ability to do activities of daily living (ADL disability).

So park in the furthest parking lot from your office (or bike/walk to work if possible), walk around campus after lunch (helps with insulin release and glucose control too), take the stairs and avoid elevators, walk over to another office instead of calling, AND try to get 30-60 minutes of structured "exercise" most days of the week. It may sound like a lot, but it just becomes a lifestyle after a while. :-)

Cheers and have a great weekend!
