Academic Events Committee
Spring 2020
Dear Program Directors and Department Chairs,
Greetings on behalf of the Academic Events Committee. We write to inform you about our committee’s work and to ask for your help. Currently, we are working on the Faculty Luncheon series for the 2020/2021 Academic Year and the 2020 Fall Conference.
Faculty Luncheon Series: The Academic Events Committee is also developing the schedule for next year’s Faculty Luncheon series. Faculty Luncheons take place on the third Tuesday of every block, in Gaylord Hall. If you or your department/program colleagues are interested in sharing your work with faculty and staff, please use the form on our website to express your interest; we will get back to you with a proposed date, based on availability, as soon as possible after our regular blockly meetings. You can also find the schedule for this year’s talks on our website. We encourage Chairs and Program Directors to nominate colleagues whose work they would like to hear more about. Please email us directly to nominate your colleagues as faculty luncheon speakers: Ammar Naji, [log in to unmask]; Natalie Gosnell, [log in to unmask]; Re Evitt, [log in to unmask]
Fall Conference: The Committee also solicits proposals for Fall Conference workshops and classes, which in 2020 will be held on Thursday, August 20. Fall Conference marks the beginning of the academic year and is a time when faculty and staff gather to socialize and hear updates from the President and the Provost. Participants then break out in to smaller groups to attend workshops and classes on a variety of topics. Please submit your proposals for Fall Conference workshops or classes using the questionnaire on the AEC website. The deadline for submitting proposals is Friday, April 17, 2020.
Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns. We look forward to your proposals for Faculty Luncheons and Fall Conference events.
Best regards,
Ammar Naji, AEC Chair, Assistant Professor, Comparative Literature and Arabic
Natalie Gosnell, Assistant Professor, Physics
Re Evitt, Associate Professor, English
