The topic is the "chair's letter" for 3rd year and tenure files. During this session we will share advice and guidelines for writing these letters. We will begin with the guidance provided by the faculty handbook<https://www.coloradocollege.edu/offices/dean/faculty/handbook/Faculty%20Handbook%202020-21.pdf> (handbook references to the letter: pp. 15-16 for 3rd year review and pp.19 & 21 for tenure review) and then delve into more practical strategies including identifying and addressing bias in files. As we exchange ideas for best practices for writing these letters, we will revise, in real time, with you, a draft guide that Andrea and I are currently writing that can be used by you and future chairs and directors. Since we will share this draft guide with you during the session electronically, we recommend bringing your laptops.
