Subject: Welcome - Coffee Hour - Tuesday, September 27 - 2:45 - 3:30
(On behalf of the Associate Dean of the Faculty)
Dear Visiting faculty,
We look forward to welcoming you to the Colorado College campus this upcoming block!
You are cordially invited to join us for an informal coffee hour in the Cossitt faculty lounge on the first Tuesday of the block, 2:45pm-3:30pm. We hope to create a space for community building where new and returning visitors have
a chance to exchange experiences and connect with others. We’ll have coffee, tea, and snacks, and we hope that you can join us.
We are starting a little earlier this block since we noticed that our event time coincides with a Crown Center Faculty Development Workshop (see details below).
For those who are planning to attend the Crown Event we will plan to walk over around 3:20.
In the meantime, here is a link to the
2022-23 New Faculty Guidebook including information about teaching and working at Colorado College. Please find
additional information for new faculty on the CC website. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
In addition to these guides, the
Crown Faculty Center supports faculty in all aspects of teaching and scholarship and offers a variety of professional development opportunities for engaged teaching
and active learning.
When you arrive on campus, please check that all your IT capabilities are functioning, e.g., internet access, email, and printing. If you encounter any issues, please contact the Help Desk at
[log in to unmask] or call 719-389-6449.
I'm looking forward to seeing you on campus soon.
Warmly,
Andrea

Making the “implicit”, “explicit”: Helping students connect competency development with their coursework.
Crown Center Faculty Development Workshop
Tuesday, September 27th 3:30-5pm
McHugh Commons
(Above the Preserve in the John Lord Knight Apt Building)
Facilitated by: Leslie Templeton, Ph. D., Professor of Psychology & Associate Provost for Faculty Development and Leigh Lassiter-Counts, M.Ed., Director
of Career Services from Hendrix College
During this interactive workshop, participants will engage in the identification and integration of competency development (enhancement of skills, knowledge, abilities, and mindsets)
in current courses. After a brief overview of competencies and the research in which it is grounded, attendees will participate in idea generation and action planning for their courses. Additional resources and examples will be provided.
We hope you will join the workshop and leave with new ideas and a plan for executing on them.
