In the coming day or so, I will give each chair/director (and co-chair/director) access to the OneDrive folder in which your departmental colleagues' self-evaluations and CVs will be saved. Please look for an email from Microsoft indicating that I gave you access to a folder. To access the folder, please click on the "Open" tile in that email. You will also be able to access your folder directly via OneDrive -

Via the CC single sign-in page, navigate to your email (Outlook)

Click on the "waffle" in the upper left-hand corner and select OneDrive
  *
Click on "Shared" on the left-hand side of the screen. Your folder is named [your department/program name], e.g., Anthropology.

When your colleagues submit their self-evaluations via the online form, a copy of it along with their CV will be saved to your folder in real time. You will not receive email notifications every time a self-evaluation comes in, please check your folder periodically.

A small number of chairs/directors may have reviews in two divisions. In this case, I will give you access to two folders, one for each division. In the event that no one in your department/program needs to be reviewed this year, you can safely ignore the email with the link to your folder.

You may have already received this from your chairs and here is your personal copy of information about faculty performance annual/biennial review.

Who needs to complete the review in 2023-24?

  *   All pre-tenure faculty members are reviewed every year, including the year they are reviewed for tenure and promotion. The self-report should include one calendar year of activity (2023).



  *   Tenured faculty, lecturers, senior lecturers are reviewed every other year. The self-report should report two calendar years of activity (2022, 2023). The 2023-24 cycle includes departments and programs G-Z (some using historical department names):

Chinese, German, Italian, Japanese, and Russian Studies (CGIJRS, previously GREAL); Geology; History; Human Biology and Kinesiology; Mathematics and Computer Science; Molecular Biology; Music; Organismal Biology and Ecology; Philosophy; Physics; Political Science; Psychology; Race, Ethnicity and Migration Studies; Religion; Sociology; Southwest Studies; Spanish and Portuguese; Theatre and Dance.

Faculty who will retire at the end of Spring 2024 do not need to complete a self-report.

An overview of the process

The entries to the online form will be available to the chairs for their review. The due date for the faculty members' self-report is typically during half-block or beginning of block 5 (chairs will communicate exact date to their faculty members). The chair and each faculty member should schedule a time during the spring semester to discuss the faculty member's report, discuss their performance and successes, future goals, and professional development needs.

The chairs' evaluations will be due on February 19. Each person's materials and the chair's appraisal and recommendation will then be made available to the Divisional Executive Committee and the Dean of the Faculty. Chairs may recommend a standard merit increase, standard merit plus an extraordinary merit bonus, a partial merit (less than standard merit increase), or no merit increase. 

Chairs and directors do not need to find another person to evaluate the chair’s self-report. The divisional executive committee will review. Please do not ask a colleague to review a chair's self-report.

Faculty who are lecturers or senior lecturers do not need to complete the section on scholarship.


Chairs and directors will determine their internal departmental deadline for faculty to complete this form and communicate to departmental faculty this internal deadline.

Chairs and directors will submit their evaluations by February 19, 2024.  After this date, the divisional executive committees will review the materials.
