Thank you, Gail and Susan, for highlighting this concern.



We, too, were hoping for clearer guidance on how best to respond and support our students. I would welcome a discussion on this matter, and to know what, if anything, the college has planned given that this is the third such tragedy in a matter of months.

I would agree. One of my students was an RA on that wing and along with the other RA’s involved was very upset with how the college handled this case.

At our department meeting last week, faculty expressed concerns about how the student death was and wasn’t handled and asked me to share those concerns at the Chairs meeting. I assume others have been having similar conversations, particularly those who are teaching this block and didn’t feel prepared to manage the classroom climate the day and day after it was announced. Perhaps that can be included in the first item – how are we doing?
