You are welcome to drop in late or leave early, as needed. Our facilitators will be Amit Mrig and Sarah Seigle Peatman of Academic Impressions. Building Trust and Psychological Safety in Groups and Teams Two of the most important drivers of group performance are trust and psychological safety. When these dynamics are present, teams are more likely to embrace diverse perspectives, generate novel ideas, and manage change more effectively. In this session we’ll share specific strategies that leaders can practice in order to cultivate and enhance the levels of trust and psychological safety in their group and team. These strategies will help chairs, directors, and campus leaders: * Create a culture of learning * Build the creative capacity of the team * Mitigate the impact of overly negative faculty members * Prevent the “meeting after the meeting” * Clarify how the group will make decisions * Normalize conflict Beyond sharing the practices, we’ll facilitate an interactive team simulation so participants can see how to put these strategies into use.
